Pineapple and Coconut

Two illuminated sculptures draw inspiration from the tropical flora of the area, representing seed pods and fruits.

A significant community engagement process was included to wrap the artworks in stories collected from community elders who emigrated from the Bahamas to Coral Gables in the early 20th century. The pieces explore the concept of nature as a neighborhood icon.
