Process
Reflecting Communities
All of Blessing’s pieces echo the culture in which they live, so engaging the local community and bringing in the right partners to build each unique piece are critical to the process.
The word “community” can mean something different to everyone, whether it’s a corporate company or a small coastal town. Before starting a new work, Blessing thinks about the community that will ultimately enjoy the piece to plan her approach.
Community Engagement
Blessing’s goal is for each work to be a powerful landmark that enriches the human experience and creates an atmosphere of participation, curiosity and connection to community.
To do that, Blessing uses various tactics to engage with community members so they feel represented and a part of the artistic process.
Tactics include:
- Leading hands-on workshops
- Incorporating original artwork, poetry, music, and dance
- Conducting surveys and questionnaires
- Hiring local artist mentees
- Outreach at community gatherings, festivals, and creative events
An Innovative Approach
Blessing is a standout in her industry for the innovative path she took in the sculpture field.
So she can solely focus on her creative process, Blessing brings together experts in fabrication, engineering and installation to construct each work.
